The scenes depicted below are those of the natural Florida swamp and sawgrass wetlands in Chassahowitzka as it looks today. This series of large original oils are painted on canvas or on board.
The Chassahowitzka National Preserve (located in Hernando and Citrus Counties in Florida) was preserved where a unique balance of salt and fresh water could combine to offer a location for both of those eco-systems to work together.
However, progress is taking itself too close and certain ecologiocal issues are developing from natural or government intrusions. Fingers get pointed and excuses are given, but what is causing this massive reduction of the hardwood hammocks and forests by saltwater intrusion? Is it developer and government greed or global warming and oceans rising?
